I know I know! Nobody can believe I’m not watching True Blood. But after just finishing the first book and seeing a few clips I’m afraid this might be a pretty accurate recap of every episode (except with more tittehs):

Don’t get me wrong- I have great and embarrassing affection for goofy sexy vampire stuff. But I don’t think I can handle the over the top accents and Sookeh’s adorably folksy southern moxie.
(On a side note, what is up with lateral incisors fangs? When did everyone stop making them the canines? Maybe it makes the actors better able to deliver lines but it just looks stupid)

Dude, you’re gettin’ my hackles up now.
It’s a sort of true recap, but also mostly not true — the best parts of the show are the supporting cast, and they get as much airtime as Beel and Sookeh. Shit starts getting real heartbreaking real fast, you know? I’ve teared up more than once.
I don’t get the fangs, though. The fangs are fired. And the actors don’t seem to have a better time with them.

Hahaha! Dacia forwarded this to me and even though I’m kind of an uber True Blood-y I also don’t get the forced accents and Sookeh is kind of flakeh and really kind of a bad actor. So much so half the time I end up cringing; but that’s the charm for me at least, the utter CULT horribleness.
PS. Nerd factoid, the fangs are that way because , was it Allen Ball? Anyway, they felt it was more realistic to make them based on Diamondback Rattlesnake fangs since I guess that makes it easier to feed???? I don’t know how accurate that is and I’m also aware of just how much of a nerd I am in this very moment. Scuttles away embarrassed.

I shouldn’t make fun, I really shouldn’t. But when I saw this it looked exactly like the image I had in my head while I was reading the book. Sunday says the books that follow are much much better so I’m going to give them a shot.

Cult Horrible is a good state for a show to be in. If they can find a balance between angsty seriousness and total retardation (Twilight, Buffy, etc) then it usually winds up being something I watch obsessively.
Oh and that makes sense about the fangs I guess, but man o man, it still looks goofy.
